Algebra 1 is the foundation for all higher-level mathematics. This course focuses on transferring concrete mathematical knowledge to more abstract algebraic concepts. Students will develop a deep understanding of expressions and equations through this engaging online course.

When tutoring students in the 7th, 8th and 9th grade students in mind, I structure the movement through the concepts in an intuitive manner. This method encourages the progression from arithmetic to algebraic and conceptual knowledge to procedural knowledge.

Sessions are aligned with mathematical standards so students will make connections and build relationships between algebra and arithmetic, geometry, and probability and statistics. Teaching algebra with this approach will help students attach meaning to the abstract concepts of algebra.

Students will use these tools to develop confidence in themselves as mathematics student.

Tables and graphs -interpret algebraic expressions, equations, and inequalities and to analyze behaviors of functions.

Graphing calculators- enhance the understanding of functions and provide a powerful tool for solving and verifying solutions to equations and inequalities.

Interactions- using the language and symbols of mathematics in representations and communication
